Anthony Rabasca

I have had a relationship with a camera since I was a senior in high school now 50+ years ago. Up until 2001 I had always considered my photographs the work of a serious amateur photographer. A career in the U.S. Air Force afforded me opportunities to visit and photograph distant places and vistas. When I retired from the Air Force in 1986, I started a second career as a Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice. Up until 2008 I divided my work in photography with my private thereapy practice.

TRAINING

I did not have any formal training until 1998 when I enrolled in a week long Landscape Photography Workshop with the superb Photographer, David Middleton, at the Maine School of Photography, Rockport, Maine. As a result of that experience my images took a quantum leap from snapshots and an occasional "keeper" to more and more images of which I am very proud and that others validated as unique and special.

In 2001 I entered the Adirondack Life Magazine's 6th Annual Photography Contest. My entry, "North Lake" was awarded first place in the color division. The award convinced me that it was time to take my work more seriously and move from the realm of amateur photographer to the world of professional photography. I was also convinced of the need to enroll in other workshops such as those offered by Nature Workshops with Roger Devore, the Adirondack Photo Institute with Mark Bowie and workshops with photographers Eric Dresser and John Slonina.

EQUIPMENT

From my days with film and now in the digital age my choice of cameras and lenses has always been Nikon. I find their equipment to be rugged and very reliable.

A PERSONAL NOTE

I do not consider myself a Professional Photographer in the fullest sense of the title. While I have had the good fortune to sell many of my photographs, I experience far greater pleasure from the responses people have when viewing my work. I hope your visit to the galleries of my web site bring you pleasure. Your pleasure is the "cake" for me. Should you decide to purchase an image, well, let's call that the "icing." Thank you for visiting my web site.
