About the Photographer: Anthony M. Rabasca

Thank you for visiting my website. The images offered here are all taken in the past five years, but they are connected to literally thousands of photographs I’ve taken over the course of my life time. My journey with light and color began in 1961 with my first camera, a Konica 35 mm Range Finder given to me by my parents as a high school graduation gift. I have been taking photos ever since. With recognition in both local and national photo contests plus the urging of friends, family members and the fact that I am now in my sixties I figured it was time to launch my third career: professional photographer. I have had comparatively little formal training with my most valuable experience being a week long nature photography workshop in 1988, at the Maine School of Photography with David Middleton.

I have a simple philosophy that I follow when photographing: I try to show others why I am so fascinated by the natural world. I want people to see what I see. I love how light enhances color, plays on objects, highlights textures and punctuates patterns. While I am enchanted by the natural world, I also have an affinity for the beauty we humans are capable of creating. An ancient door, a weathered wall, a plowed field can be breathtaking in the right light. I work almost exclusively with color because that is what we see, what we experience. Whether traveling afar, or in my own backyard, I make a conscious effort to capture that which is beautiful about our world. There is so much beauty to be found not only in the panorama of remote mountain ranges but also in the delicate patterns offered by a leaf or the petal of a flower. I hope my photographs stir your emotions and causes you to pause, to look, to absorb and allow the beauty of this world to touch your soul.
